During our creative journey, it can be helpful to reflect back on where we started and why we love what we do.

Today, think back to your earliest interactions with creative work, whether doing your own creative work or appreciating the work of others.

You might remember the first books someone read to you or the television you watched as a child. At that point, you weren’t required to take any action. You were able to delight in the experience without any demands being made upon you or the work.

Similarly, you might remember drawing or coloring, making up stories, or other types of childhood play and creativity. Most of us were able to enjoy these games without being judged. The play was the point.

Sit with that feeling for a while. How would it feel as an adult to make or enjoy creative work without any other expectations or demands?
