What if, instead of going through denial, anger, bargaining, and depression, we practiced skipping ahead to acceptance?
No one enjoys receiving a rejection letter. No one really likes listening to critiques of their manuscript, even though we know it’s for our own good. That twinge of hurt and imposter syndrome is perfectly natural.
But fighting the experience isn’t helpful either. In fact, wallowing in your feelings probably only delays your ability to reach the good stuff – friendship, learning, improving your craft, and writing the best story you possibly can.
Welcome feedback. Embrace criticism. Learn to accept rejection. Every instance is bringing you closer to becoming the best version of your creative self.
